"Ghetto Redux" launch party

The guests listening to the introduction to Ghetto Redux by Jemma Elliott-Israelson, Head Curator at Shifting Vision.

The event commenced with a tour of the Levett collection at 19:00, followed by a captivating introduction to “Ghetto Redux” by Jemma Elliott-Israelson, Head Curator at Shifting Vision.

Distinguished guests, including gallerists, collectors, and cultural luminaries, were in attendance. Among the notable figures were Vincent Namatjira, Caterina Licitra – Ponti, Costantino Gucci, Arturo Galansino, Serena Tabacchi,  Bianca Orlando, Simonetta Sancristoforo, Jonathan Prince and Andrea Bonaceto.

The party was a launch for Ghetto Redux, a large-scale, multi-disciplinary art project which will feature new works by internationally acclaimed artists Ron Arad, Sir Isaac Julien, Vincent Namatjira, Lihi Turjeman, and Erwin Wurm. These visionary artists are creating new pieces in response to historical records discovered in the Medici Archive, shedding light on the Jewish Ghetto in Florence and how the concept and history of ghettoization resonates today.

The newly commissioned  artworks will be exhibited in 2025 in a group exhibition with featured documents  from the archival show co-produced by MAP, The Jews and The Medici on currently at  Palazzo Pitti (Uffizi)  in Florence until the 28th January 2024.

The project is partnered with Yavuz Gallery, Gordon Gallery, Sommer Contemporary Art,  Galerie Philia, Mousse Magazine, The Novecento Museum, Sina Villa Medici and Spazio Sassetti.
